Ready to bring your burlesque vision to life? This class dives deep into the art of act development—the creative process of crafting a fully realized burlesque performance from concept to stage. Whether you’re starting with a song, a costume piece, or just a spark of an idea, you’ll learn how to shape that inspiration into a compelling narrative or aesthetic journey. We’ll explore how to develop your character, structure your act, choose music that supports your story, and create emotional or comedic arcs that engage your audience.
You’ll also learn how to elevate your performance through the intentional use of props. From classic feather fans to unexpected everyday items, we’ll cover how to select, manipulate, and integrate props so they enhance—not overshadow—your movement and storytelling. We’ll touch on prop timing, transitions, and tricks to make your reveals smooth and impactful.
Perfect for both new and experienced performers, this class will give you the tools to create acts that are not only entertaining, but memorable and uniquely you.
What You’ll Learn:
What makes a strong burlesque act and how to build a storyline, theme, or mood
Song selection and act pacing and prop safety, selection, and choreography; tips for rehearsing and refining your act
Bring: A notebook, any prop(s) you want to work with, and your creative energy!
